About
This submission is for the Dungeon Crawler Jam 2024, embracing the theme of solitude intertwined with elements of cosmic horror. The protagonist finds himself adrift amidst the winding passages and resonating chambers of an ancient labyrinth. His sole desire is to return to the familiar comforts of home, yet the oppressive silence of the cave, devoid of human presence, burdens him with a palpable weight. Each step reverberates like a solitary heartbeat in the vast expanse of emptiness.
Within the depths of the cave lies a mysterious portal, a gateway to an unfathomable realm where sight fails, but sensation reigns. Trapped within this incomprehensible abyss, the protagonist must urgently seek escape, lest his sanity wane to naught, leaving him ensnared indefinitely in the clutches of madness.
Controls
- WASD: Move; QE: Turn.
- Arrow keys: Move forward/backward; Turn left/right.
- Compass: Located in the top left corner.
- Health Bars: Player health bar is in the top right corner, while enemy health bar appears in the top left during combat.
- Weapon Activation: Click on a weapon in your bag/inventory to activate/deactivate it. Note: The game supports up to 3 active weapons at a time.
FAQ/Help
Q. Why aren't picked up weapons displayed during battles?
Ans. Ensure to activate/deactivate the weapon by clicking on it in your bag/inventory prior to initiating the battle.
Q. After reaching the portal, everything plunges into utter darkness...?
Ans. Yes, welcome to a realm beyond your understanding. Here, sight eludes you, but the walls are palpable. Attempt to turn around and sense your surroundings; you may need to raise the sound volume slightly. Should you find yourself at an impasse, consider using a vision potion.
Q. Why is sanity decreasing on its own?
Ans. In the unfathomable realm, sanity diminishes by one unit every 2 seconds. If you find your sanity dwindling, consider utilizing a sanity potion from your bag/inventory.

Web version is preferred. The desktop executable are just wrapper around the web version. You may get firewall warning on Windows as the executable spawns a local web server to run the game.

Nice work. As a suggestion, the sound effect in the dark realm is a little loud, maybe it could be a little more subtle. The flavor text is nice and I like the tone it sets, if the enviroment had some more details like maybe some creepy faces, moody lighting or some other effect it could help even more with the ambiance. The ending is kind of a tonal shift, but at least it's upbeat ahaha.
